When disaster strikes, immediate support is critical to help families begin rebuilding their lives. After the Marshall Fire—the most destructive in Colorado’s history—burned 6,080 acres in Boulder County, destroying 1,084 homes and damaging 149 more, the CAR Foundation partnered with the National Association of REALTORS® REALTOR® Relief Foundation to provide direct mortgage and rental assistance to 541 families, providing more than 16,000 nights of shelter.. With more than $2 billion in losses from property and smoke damage, lost wages, and business interruption, this $1.27 million in aid offered a lifeline, averaging $2,355 per family. For many, this support meant more than financial relief; as one survivor shared, it offered hope, a sense of belonging, and the reassurance that their community was there when they needed it most.
