Eagle County Housing and Development Authority builds a stronger, healthier, and more resilient community through mentorship, partnerships, and innovative housing solutions. By providing financial support, affordable housing programs, and opportunities for homeownership, the organization creates lasting stability and prosperity for residents across Eagle County.
CAR Foundation support (2024) strengthened the Eagle County Housing and Development Authority’s Eagle County Loan Fund by expanding access to down payment assistance for local homebuyers. This investment was deposited directly into the revolving loan fund, ensuring long-term availability of capital that helps residents overcome one of the largest barriers to homeownership in a high-cost market.
As a result of this support, the Loan Fund served 70 homebuyers during the reporting period, meeting higher-than-anticipated demand driven by new affordable units entering the market. Funds provided second-lien loans with no monthly payments for up to 15 years, paired with free homebuyer education delivered by licensed REALTORS through The Valley Home Store. This model helped buyers secure homes while strengthening financial readiness and long-term housing stability.
CAR Foundation funding reinforced a sustainable, community-centered approach to homeownership by keeping resources in perpetual use through the revolving loan structure. By supporting a program that has assisted more than 800 buyers and reinvested millions back into the local housing market, the Foundation helped ensure continued access to attainable homeownership for working families. This investment demonstrates how strategic, education-linked financing solutions can preserve housing opportunities and strengthen communities over time.
