Extreme Community Makeover empowers Denver residents to partner with volunteers in revitalizing their homes and neighborhoods. Through repairs, safety upgrades, and accessibility improvements, the organization strengthens community connections and creates healthier, more stable living environments where individuals and families can thrive.
In 2025, CAR Foundation funding allowed Extreme Community Makeover (ECM) to continue revitalizing Denver neighborhoods through hands-on volunteer engagement. The $7,500 grant helped mobilize 1,090 volunteers who completed 38 home improvement projects, cleaned 121 alleys, and invested over 5,300 service hours resulting tangible work that strengthened both homes and community bonds.
The investment also deepened ECM’s impact on residents who might otherwise struggle to maintain safe and stable homes. Survey results showed that 78% of participants could not have completed their projects without ECM’s help, and 97% expressed extreme satisfaction with their experience. Homeowners described the effort as life-changing, noting how the organization’s care and volunteer support helped them remain in their homes and feel proud of their neighborhoods.
Beyond immediate improvements, CAR Foundation’s grant contributed to the launch of ECM’s Good Neighbors Program, fostering lasting relationships between volunteers and residents. These partnerships reflect the heart of ECM’s mission to build safety, connection, and hope across communities. The Foundation’s continued investment in initiatives like this demonstrates how collective effort transforms not only physical spaces but the lives of those who call them home.
