Family Promise of Colorado Springs responds to the affordable housing crisis by strengthening landlord partnerships and expanding shelter options. Through a growing focus on trauma-informed care, the organization ensures situationally unhoused families receive stable housing alongside compassionate, responsive services that meet increasingly complex needs.
CAR Foundation support (2023) strengthened Family Promise of Colorado Springs’ Interfaith Hospitality Network Family Shelter and Day Center, providing essential resources for situationally unhoused families. The grant helped deliver safe, clean temporary housing alongside comprehensive services that guided families toward stability during a critical period.
Through this investment from CAR Foundation, families supported by Family Promise of Colorado Springs accessed case management, housing advocacy, financial literacy education, parenting guidance, transportation, and trauma and mental health counseling. In 2023, 12 families, including 24 children, received shelter and services, with eight transitioning into stable housing. By 2024, 85% of participating families successfully moved into permanent homes, demonstrating the lasting impact of this coordinated approach.
CAR Foundation support also reinforced a model grounded in evaluation, accountability, and compassion. By pairing measurable outcomes with consistent encouragement from staff, volunteers, and host congregations, the program restored hope and confidence for parents while creating safe environments for children. This funding underscored how targeted philanthropic investment can transform family homelessness into pathways toward long-term housing stability.
