Habitat for Humanity of Mesa County builds strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. By partnering with local families and volunteers, the organization creates affordable homeownership opportunities that help residents put down roots and build a more secure future in their community.

CAR Foundation support (2024) strengthened Habitat for Humanity of Mesa County’s ability to deliver permanent, affordable homeownership for working families. During the 2024–2025 fiscal year, this investment helped complete four homes, meeting the organization’s annual construction goal and providing safe, stable housing for 20 individuals, including four single mothers and their children. The funding reinforced Habitat’s mission of creating strength, stability, and self-reliance through homeownership.

Despite an unexpected transition following the retirement of a longtime construction manager, CAR Foundation funding helped ensure continuity and progress. While one home officially closed shortly after the fiscal year ended, the majority of construction occurred as planned, and all four families moved into permanent housing. These homes offered not only physical safety but also emotional security and opportunity, as reflected in homeowner testimonials that describe life-changing stability, renewed hope, and the pride of building a future within a supportive community.

CAR Foundation support also helped position Habitat for future growth. Increased volunteer participation and group builds allowed the organization to rebound quickly from staffing challenges, while an expanded service area now includes both Mesa and Delta counties. By investing in construction capacity and community engagement, the Foundation helped Habitat scale its impact, advance equitable homeownership, and demonstrate how strategic housing investments create lasting outcomes for families and communities.
