Mercy Housing Mountain Plains pairs immediate housing relief with long-term skill-building to reduce evictions and support lasting stability. Through affordable housing and resident services, the organization helps individuals and families build resilience, strengthen financial skills, and remain securely housed across communities in the Mountain Plains region.

CAR Foundation support (2023) strengthened Mercy Housing Mountain Plains’ Rent Relief and Housing Stability Project at three Denver metro family properties. This investment provided targeted rental assistance and on-site resident services, helping low-income households facing inflation-driven hardship remain stably housed during a period of heightened eviction risk.

Through this funding, eight households received direct rent relief while all residents at Decatur Place, Holly Park, and Clare Gardens gained access to financial literacy workshops, job readiness support, and eviction prevention counseling. As a result, there were no evictions at any of the three properties in 2023, and eviction-related moveouts remained exceptionally low in 2024, underscoring the value of pairing immediate assistance with skill-building services.

CAR Foundation support reinforced a comprehensive approach that addresses both short-term crises and long-term stability. By investing in financial wellbeing, housing education, and resident services alongside rent relief, the Foundation helped families weather economic shocks, remain in their homes, and build resilience thus demonstrating how strategic housing investments can reduce evictions and strengthen entire communities.
