Project Hope of Gunnison Valley provides free, confidential advocacy and emergency support for individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking. Through a 24/7 crisis line, safe shelter, counseling, legal aid, and advocacy services, the organization helps survivors find safety, resources, and pathways to a new beginning.

CAR Foundation support (2025) strengthened Project Hope of Gunnison Valley’s housing assistance efforts by funding emergency shelter and transitional housing for survivors of domestic violence. This investment helped the organization respond to a growing need for safe housing in Gunnison and Hinsdale Counties, where limited rental inventory and high housing costs often create significant barriers to safety and stability.

Through this support, Project Hope directly assisted 15 clients and their dependents by covering transitional housing costs and providing rental assistance when financial hardship threatened housing stability. The organization maintained multiple confidential, rent-free transitional housing units that offered survivors immediate access to safe shelter while staff worked alongside them to secure affordable, permanent housing. This flexibility ensured that individuals fleeing abuse could continue their healing journey without facing homelessness or returning to unsafe situations.

CAR Foundation funding alleviated the substantial costs associated with operating transitional housing, allowing Project Hope to dedicate more resources to client safety and long-term housing outcomes. By investing in housing solutions that bridge the gap between crisis and independence, the Foundation helped survivors move toward stability, security, and self-sufficiency. This support demonstrates how targeted housing investments can provide life-changing opportunities for individuals rebuilding their lives after abuse.
