Project Hope of Gunnison Valley provides free, confidential advocacy and emergency support for individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking. Through a 24/7 crisis line, safe shelter, counseling, legal aid, and advocacy services, the organization helps survivors find safety, resources, and pathways to a new beginning.
CAR Foundation support (2025) will strengthen Project Hope of Gunnison Valley’s emergency shelter and transitional housing programs for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking. This investment will help ensure survivors and their children can access safe, confidential housing at critical moments in their healing and recovery journeys.
With this funding, Project Hope will provide emergency shelter through trusted hotel partnerships and sustain transitional housing placements while survivors work toward permanent, affordable homes. Advocates will continue delivering trauma-informed, client-driven support—assisting with housing applications, navigating waiting lists, and helping clients save for future housing costs during a severe rural housing shortage.
CAR Foundation support will also help offset operational and staffing costs at a time of significant funding reductions, ensuring no survivor is turned away from housing assistance. By investing in safety, dignity, and self-sufficiency, the Foundation will help survivors move from crisis toward stability, empowerment, and long-term independence all of which demonstrate how housing-focused intervention is essential to healing and community resilience.
