Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN) empowers survivors of domestic, intimate partner, and sexual violence through trauma-informed advocacy, crisis intervention, shelter, legal support, and housing services. Serving Boulder and Broomfield counties, the organization helps individuals and families build safety, resilience, and long-term stability free from violence.

CAR Foundation support (2024) strengthened SPAN’s Housing Stability Program, providing critical housing advocacy and financial assistance for survivors of domestic violence in Boulder and Broomfield counties. This investment ensured survivors accessing emergency shelter could move quickly toward safe, stable housing during a period of rising rents and economic uncertainty.

Through this funding, SPAN served hundreds of survivors and their children with emergency shelter, intensive housing advocacy, and long-term case management. More than 200 survivors transitioned directly from shelter into stable housing, and 100% of Housing Stability Program participants remained housed throughout the grant period, demonstrating the effectiveness of pairing flexible financial assistance with trauma-informed support.

CAR Foundation support also helped survivors rebuild safety, confidence, and independence after violence. Clients reported feeling safer, less isolated, and more resilient, with measurable gains in stability and self-efficacy. By investing in housing-centered survivor services, the Foundation helped transform moments of crisis into pathways toward healing, empowerment, and long-term housing security for survivors and their families.
